Evan's First Haircut

I thought Evan would bawl his head off when we put the clippers to his head, but he did great! He just sat there and tried to play with the hair that was falling to the ground. His hair was getting a little fuzzy for our liking so we decided to experiment and buzz it off. I think it looks pretty cute...just like a bald baby!

Well, I thought I had Tom fooled. My plan was working so great. But then, it backfired on me. I think for the past 6 months, I have been using a "negotiating" tool to get Tom to help me with certain household chores or to help with the kids.
OLD way of asking for help: "Will you do the dishes?" (Tom would say,"I just did them a few days ago." or some sort of eye rolling or whining....I'm sure all you wives out there are familiar with this!) "Will you change Jordyn's diaper?" (Tom: "It's your turn." or "I'm busy.")
NEW way of asking for help: "Would you rather do the dishes OR change Evan and Jordyn's diaper?" (then followed by eyes rolling and "Change the diapers.") Do you want to give Jordyn a bath or Evan a bath?" (followed by Tom saying,"Evan")
Giving a choice between two things to do was working great! Of course he always chose the slightly easier task, but oh well, it was getting done. So finally, after months and months of my evil plot, he finally picked up on it and the other day he said this as we were in the kitchen,"What would you rather do, unload the dishwasher or load it?" AND later "Would you rather feed the kids their snack or get them both dressed for bed?"
(sigh) I guess it was great while it lasted.

For LOST Fans!

Well, if you don't watch the TV show LOST, this post will be pretty boring for you to read. But, I couldn't resist getting the opinions of other people and what they thought of the season finale last night. First of all, I couldn't believe it was actually 2 HOURS long! They have never done that before and I was so excited!
So here are my questions and theories:
  • Who is Naomi working for and is she good or bad?
  • Is Ben telling the truth that everyone will die if they phone for help and that he has been blocking the signal this whole time to save everyone? (I actually think Ben may be telling the truth, at least to some extent. I don't really know WHY they don't want them to call the boat, maybe the people on the boat are bad?)
  • Is Walt still on the island, or was Locke "imagining" him?
  • How does Locke get healed and out of the ditch?
  • Is Kate pregnant? (I think she is.)
  • How did Penelope (Penny) show up on the computer screen in the underwater hatch? She would have had to have access to their computer system.... is she involved with the island and "the others".
  • And what in the WORLD was going on during the last 5 min. or so?.... Who was Kate talking about when she said,"I better go, he'll be wondering where I'm at."? (possibly a child? ... if she was pregnant? Or Sawyer, if they are together.) ... is Jack's father really dead? (he says,"Go get my father etc..." when talking to the new doctor)
  • Who is in the casket? (I got on the messageboards and numerous people noticed that the coffin was shorter than normal. Also, they said that the newspaper clipping said something about a man hanging himself in a loft apt. So, the theory is that it is Locke.... he came back from the island (was forced to) and the "magic powers" of the island were gone and he was paralyzed again.... and possibly had to amputate his legs (explains the short coffin) and decided to kill himself because of his legs. I think it could make sense!
  • My theory about Kate and Jack being off the island is that either the "others" or whoever is on the rescue boat, lets some of them going home (for whatever reason!) but that some have to stay. Those who go home are threatened that if they tell anyone, those on the island will be killed. That is why Jack says he is sick of lieing and wants to go back... to rescue those left behind. That is my pitiful excuse of a theory!

So, what did you think? I can't wait to hear what your theories and questions are too. So many questions and now we have to wait so long....

Latest Happenings...

Is it already time to blog again? Well, the only thing Tom and I have been doing the past two weeks is praying and talking ALOT. Wonder what I'm talking about? Well, to make a LONG story short... Tom happened upon a great job in Boise, had an interview, got offered a job, and is now negotiating a salary. They told us they would call Fri. (they didn't call!) or Mon. So here we are just waiting..... I hate waiting! I think I have done more research on the internet these past two weeks than I have ever done in my life! We are pretty excited and I'll let Tom blog about it more when we get the final word on Monday.

Picture 1: Evan playing in the rocks on our back patio. He loves throwing them. He actually loves throwing any kind of round object. He is actually pretty good at tossing and throwing now!
Picture 2: Jordyn and Evan in their new carseats. I special ordered Jordyn's car seat about a month ago and we finally got it yesterday. It is a special needs seat that will hold up to 105 pounds and has all kinds of padding and contraptions to help kids who need extra support sitting. I thought that Jordyn's previous car seat was huge (the one Evan upgraded to) but this new seat is a monstrosity! When I pulled it out of the huge box, I just started laughing and wondering how this was going to fit in the car! Well, it fits, but not much else fits in the back seat besides Jordyn and Evan. Jordyn looks like she is sitting in a La-Z-Boy recliner! She loves it.
Not sure if you can see very well, but Jordyn has a large amount of bruises on her left leg. They just started to appear one day and it took us a good week to figure out what was causing them! I know, pretty crazy. People kept asking us what happened and we'd say,"Ummm, we don't know!" and then they would stare at us like we were wierd or something. Luckily her school didn't think we were abusing her! So, we finally figured out she was kicking herself when she was mad! Jordyn has a very bad habit of kicking her right leg when she is angry and now she just started using her right leg to kick her other leg. But, unfortunately, even though she is hurting herself, she just can't figure out how to stop doing it. She has also started pulling out her hair too! I know.... poor little Jordyn! Another thing she does when she is mad is to rub the side of her head with her hand (it's hard to explain!) and her fingers get caught in her hair and pulls some of it out. This morning I found quite a large gob of hair in her bed! So far, it isn't enough to even notice and I'm hoping it stays that way!
Picture 3: Somehow Evan got into the tub of oatmeal and dumped it out! Luckily the tub was pretty close to being empty! I was in the other room and I was wondering why it was so quiet. I still can't figure out how he got the tub in the first place AND got the lid off. He is really getting into stuff lately. He also got into and dumped out a whole box of my organized photos.
Picture 4: Kids playing outside.

Other happenings: This quarter at school, Tom discovered a scholarship for students where you choose two books you want and write an essay on why you want them. Yep, that's it! You can choose any book you want as long as it's not a college text book or having to do with your major. The whole point is to be able to read books to "expand your horizons". You have a limit of $200 and you can also apply for it every quarter. For some reason, no one really knows about this scholarship....Tom JUST found out about it his very LAST quarter and he has been going there for almost 3 years! Just imagine, he could have recieved 24 FREE books by now. (sigh) Oh well, I guess 2 free books is better then none. Tom had one book he wanted and was nice enough to pick a book I wanted too! He chose "Start Your Own Business" and I chose "The Best Light Recipe". I love my book. It's written by America's Test Kitchen or Cook's Illustrated Magazine. And it's all light recipes! I love America's Test Kitchen but sometimes it's hard to make a lot of their recipes because they are extremely high in fat... they LOVE their butter! So this is perfect! And just my luck, today's episode on TV they were making 2 recipes out of my new book! They made light versions of Mac and Cheese and Chicken Parmesan. I can't wait to try out a new recipe now.
PS: Anyone else TOTALLY excited for the LOST season finale this week? I can't wait!

School Photo & School Program

Well, as you can see, Jordyn did not enjoy taking her school photo! She was crying almost the whole time and paused just long enough for them to snap a picture of her. At least we can have a good laugh about it now! Last year when Jordyn took her first school photo, I was very skeptical and insisted on looking at the photos first before buying them. And they did a pretty great job! So this year I figured it would be the same thing..... guess not! But, it's not the photographers fault. It was the very end of the school day and Jordyn was grumpy and tired... the timing was just really bad. Oh well, I guess we will try again in the fall!

Yesterday Jordyn's school had their annual Spring Musical. This year the theme was "Boogie Down on the Farm". It was very cute and Jordyn did a great job! Her class sang "BINGO" and "I Like Potatoes". Then all of the classes sang "Old McDonald Had a Farm" at the end of the program. Jordyn's teachers told me that during the practice she always smiles and claps her hands for Old McDonald. And sure enough, by the end of Old McDonald she was smiling and clapping. It's pretty fun to see Jordyn recognize something she likes. (Jordyn's class below)

It's Official!

I am officially running the St. George Marathon on October 6, 2007! Even more exciting, I will be running it with my brothers, Joel and David, and my sister, Susan!
You have to get chosen for the marathon through a "lottery" and we found out this morning that we all got in. My grandpa, aunt, and uncle all live in St. George, so we are excited to see family at the same time.
I think I am still in shock that I actually decided to do a marathon. When I started running a year ago, I told several people that I would NEVER do a marathon. And slowly I began to change my mind. First I decided to run a 5 mile race, then a 9 mile race, and then I figured I might as well do a half-marathon (still trying to find one to do near Spokane!). So, I figured if I could run a half-marathon, I might as well run a full marathon!
It also seems like running a marathon is a right of passage to be considered a "real" runner. Once I have ran a marathon, I think I will feel like I have accomplished such a HUGE goal and then I can finally tell people that I have done one!

I haven't been able to think of anything interesting to blog about lately. So, I guess that means it's a good time to post some recent photos of the kids!

This is Jordyn's new trick. She puts her hands together
and then puts them over her head. This is quite an
accomplishment for her and she seems to enjoy doing
it too! She is actually very close to sitting up on her own now!
Well, she CAN sit on her own (If you get her situated in a
good sitting position and then slowly let go of her) for about
5-10 seconds. I guess I just assumed she would never be able to
sit independantly for long periods of time,
but now it is slowly becoming a real possibility. I guess
we should never really give up on certain goals for Jordyn
because you never know what she will be able to accomplish!

Jordyn's new haircut. We always crack up when Jordyn smiles.
She has to show as many teeth as she can! We also like to call
this photo "Book Worm".

I just thought this pic. was funny. This is a way to get
a good look at Evan's teeth I guess!

Gotta love the precious "sleeping pictures".
He fell asleep on the couch in this photo.
