Party Time

Jordyn and Evan's Birthday

(CLICK ON PHOTO TO SEE MORE!)

Well, last night was the big birthday party! On Jordyn's birthday (Tues.) she took some pudding snacks to school for her classmates. We let her open her cards and big present that night .... a food processor! I think she might be the first 4 year old to get a food processor for her B-day! We had decided awhile ago that we needed to feed Jordyn healthier meals and not so many pre-made foods. A lot of the meals I make for us are just too difficult for Jordyn to eat and too hard to smash up! So, my parents went in on a food processor with us. And last night, Jordyn got to eat pizza for the first time! We called it "pizza mush" and she loved it!

Last night we had the Kovich family, Katie Kovich (Kurt's sister), and Jeni & Jeff Christiansen over. Jordyn and Evan opened all their presents first. A few things they got: cards & money, clothing, puzzle, swim suits/sunglasses, assortment of sports balls, walk n' ride toy, music dvd/cd, and books. Then the kids got to eat their devil's food cake with cream cheese frosting. I kept the decorating simple.... no animal shaped cakes this year. They had fun eating their cake and ice cream. Evan loved it, but actually didn't get too messy. I thought he would be covered in it, but he was nice and kept fairly clean! It was a great day and it's always a little sad when their birthdays are over. Thank you everyone for the gifts and cards... we have such awesome family and friends!

Through The Years & March Race # 2

Race report: Susan and I ran the 5 mile "Rapid Rabbit Run" on Saturday. It was great weather for a run! My time was 44:59 and I got 10th out of 14 in my age group. Not as great as our last run... but oh well! This race was also a qualifying race for the famous "Bloomsday Run". If you beat a certain time you would qualify to start closer to the starting line at the Bloomsday race.... there are over 50,000 runners and walkers! (Sadly, it is on a Sunday so I won't be running in it!)So, there seemed to be a lot of good runners at this race... that is my excuse for not placing as well this time! March race #3 is in two weeks... check back for results and photos. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I have a goal of running twelve races this year... one for every month. Couldn't find a race in January and in February we missed our race because we had TERRIBLE snowy weather the day of the race and we had to drive about 45 min. away! So, this month I am running for January, February, and March and then I will be caught up.

This week (Tuesday and Wednesday) is Jordyn and Evan's birthdays! I am always so excited for them to have their birthdays. It's fun to buy them presents, make them a cake, and have a little party. I can't wait to see what Evan does when we give him cake for the first time. He is such a little pig right now (you will notice in his last picture below that he has gained weight!), I am sure he is going to down his cake in no time at all! We even made him wait to have cake and didn't give him any at his neice, Katherine's, party! Are we mean or what? After much deliberation, we decided to "officially" celebrate both of their birthdays on Wednesday with a party. I am sure we will end up doing something special just for Jordyn on her big day too. I will post photos of their party later in the week. In honor of their birthdays, I organized some photos of the two of them growing up. It is always so fun looking back at the pictures of when they were born and seeing how much they have changed and grown. It always makes you want to cry! Just click on each of the photos below and it will take you to their photo collages.

March Race #1

On Saturday, Susan and I ran the Leprechaun Scurry in Couer d'Alene, ID. It was 3 miles long, starting at North Idaho College and running on Lake Couer d'Alene (photo #1). It was a little chilly, but the great view helped distract you from the cold. We were pretty excited to try and improve our time from the 3 mile race we ran in the fall. And we did beat it.... by a LOT! In the fall we ran the 3 mile race in 28:49 and yesterday we ran it in 25:19! That is an improvement of 3:31. Needless to say, we were pretty happy. In my age group I got 7 out of 24. And for overall women, we got 18 and 19 out of 144! Susan was lucky enough to win a raffle price.... $15.00 gift card to a running store. We headed over there after the race and looked around and she bought a few things. We had a lot of fun! Our next race (5 mile) is in two weeks, so check back for the details.
