Question of the week!

In honor of 9/11, the question of the week is:

Where were you and what were you doing when you found out about the terrorist attacks?

I was getting ready for work. I remember my roomate calling me up to the living room to see something on TV. Emily and I were dating at the time and as my roomates and I stood in the living room shocked, Emily walked in asking if we had heard. It wasn't long after that the second plane hit. I worked at Montana Power at the time as a meter reader. I remember as I went on my route to the different businesses nobody was working they were all instead glued to the TV or radio wondering if anything else was going to happen.

I must have been driving over to Tom's because I remember first hearing about the attacks on the radio in the car. At that time, I worked in medical records at the hospital. Later that day, I went to work and we listened to it on the radio the whole time.

I was still in bed (although I should have been on my way to work...different story for different time). Jenny was up already and came and told me to come watch the TV. The first plane had just hit and the reporters were still speculating what had happened when we watched the second plane hit. Jenny and I stared at each other in disbelief. I remember calling my grandparents (my mom was at their house visiting) to tell them to turn on the TV. It was also the last conversation I had with my grandmother as she died shortly after that. My manager was in the WTC tower that day for a meeting. She made it out, though.

I was getting ready to go to class at KU and was watching Good Morning America in our apartment. Once I realized what was going on, I remember telling Chris, "Uh, you better come watch this." (Eli was about 14 months old.) We both watched the second plane hit the building and we were shocked. I had to go to class later in the morning and I remember walking around campus, looking up into the sky, and wondering if planes were going to attack our city as well. It was just a weird day, not knowing who or what or why there were planes attacking. I got to my statistics class and the professor said a few words and dismissed the whole class because he had just found out that the buildings had actually collapsed. What a memorable day.

Ok that doesn't sound right. A better way to say it: I was in the car, listening to the radio, when I heard about the terrorist attacks.

I was at work and someone said to come watch the TV because a "small plane or something" had hit one of the towers. It became a major concern as the day wore on because our office manages 80 dams and there was some fear about infrastructure around the country.

I was working at Disney World. I was just leaving for work when my roommate told me the park was closed. I didn't believe her (the park had only closed once or twice in its whole existence) so she forced me to come in and look at the TV. I watched the second plane hit the second tower. I was with her and our other roommate who was from NYC. She was on the phone calling her family and was only able to get through once. They were walking home from the city. They said all the streets were filled with people. Out of the three NY roommates I had, she was the only one who had family close to the towers. I feel like it was yesterday...weird that it has been 5 years.
